The Spell Forge Room

03/08/2020

We were attacked in the passageway outside the room. It seemed as if Mormosk sent everything he had left in order to stop us. Ghouls, Specters, Ghasts and even a green glowing, floating skull tried to kill us.

I turned to see how Ran was fairing. He was caught! Purple hands tore out his throat and he dropped to the ground. Alice stood there. I stared at her black eyes and fell unconscious.

When I woke up all I could see was Ran dead on the ground next to me. The others were still clearing out the rest of the monsters, but I didn't really care. I panicked. I used my Gentle Repose scroll on his body and started to shove him into my bag of holding. I should have been thinking clearer, but Istrid ran up and took over. She revivified Ran. She also revivified Gundrun who I had not even seen go down.

With the monsters now dead, Yagra and Skylar opened the door to the Spell Forge room. A black void began just inside the doorway. Dark tendrils reached out, grabbed Skylar and dragged her into the void. Yagra barely escaped being grabbed, and raged into the room. Tyaa and Trella, and maybe a few of the others fire into the room, hoping to hit whatever is creating the void. Whatever it was, they hit something. A blinding flash erupted in the room and the void disappeared.

I couldn't see Alice, but I knew she was around somewhere so I used my magic to see the invisible. She was hiding in the Ethereal plane, just standing in the hallway - watching us. She didn't notice me, I slowly told the others she was there. Why was she just watching?

As we filed into the room, a voice boomed out. It was Mormosk, and he didn't want us taking his things. He rose up out of the floor with five Specters. It didn't take long, he was already damaged - from where we never worked out. We killed him and the Specters while Alice stood in the Ethereal plane and simply watched. Creepy.

We could feel magical energy coming off the kiln in the center of the room, but it was certainly not as magical as it had been in the past.

Tyaa found a black wooden box. When he opened it, there was a magical bow inside and when he touched it, Skylar's mace flared light. This was Hazirawn, no doubt. The bow spoken of in the book we had found earlier. It speaks out loud! There is the soul of a real person inside. His name is Mezendarandin.

Here's the thing: He doesn't like elves, any elves, even half elves. And he has an attitude. There could be problems ahead.

We spent two days in the mine, resting up and hoping the reinforcements leave. Alice left as soon as we found the bow. Ran was his usual absent minded, self absorbed self. He decided to stay and research anything he could find in here. As such, he gave me the robe he was wearing. It should come in handy as we adventure. He told me where my village could be found. At some point we have to go there. Sooner rather than later.

We dug ourselves out on a different side than the front entrance, just in case. At the initial entrance there were Tabaxi tracks. They spent time near the door, then headed west. I think Winter might know something about these Tabaxi.

Items Found in Wave Echo Cave: The Hazirawn bow, Robe of Serpents (from Ran), Pearl of Power, Necklace of Adaptation, Cloak of the Manta Ray, various coins totaling 800 gold.

Several days later . . . .

We're now back in Waterdeep. It seems strange to call this place a home, but we seem to have made friends here. I guess that is all that is needed.

Stevie is glad to have us back. Embric and Avi want us to host their wedding (they've been betrothed for 15 years, and have never made it official)

Of course we said yes!

In the meantime, we are going to rest from our recent adventures. All the experience of being out on the trail has left us feeling stronger than ever.

I do want to add something - Troll Skull Alley is looking a bit down. In speaking with others, business hasn't been very good lately. It seems as if some of the Lords and Ladies in town have been speaking of us and drawing business away from here. We might have to look into this.

Well, time to go and do some experimenting of my own and put a few more spells in the old spellbook . . .
